Dr. Richter enters her sixth year on the Asbury Seminary faculty. A graduate of Harvard University, with previous teaching experience at Gordon College, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Harvard Divinity School, and Harvard University, her publications include "The Deuteronomistic History and the Name Theology", a monograph with the BZAW series published by Walter de Gruyter, "The Place of the Name" with Vetus Testamentum, "The Deuteronomistic History," in IVP's new Dictionary of the Old Testament: Historical Books and an article on “Covenants” for the new Eerdmans Handbook to the Bible. She is presently working on a commentary on Deuteronomy for Eerdman's Two Horizons series and Through Eden's Gate, a theological introduction to the Old Testament with InterVarsity Press. Her academic papers include “The Deuteronomistic History & the Place of the Name” at the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature Conference in 1996 and “The Clarification of a Difficult Text: Deuteronomy 12:5” in 2000, and "'The Placing of the Name' In Israel's Experience" in 2004. Dr. Richter has pioneered a summer archaeology program here at Asbury, which is associated with the Tel Zeitah, Tel Rehov, and Tel Dan excavations in Israel. As the Jerusalem University College representative, she also brings our students to Israel every other year for historical geography. She has won numerous awards and scholarships, including the Graduate Society Dissertation Completion Fellowship, Harvard University; the Derek Bok Certificate of Distinction in Teaching, Harvard University; the Graduate Student Council Travel Grant, Harvard University; and the Pfeiffer Grant, given toward participation in the Ashkelon Excavations. She is a member of Phi Alpha Chi, a theological honor society for Gordon-Conwell graduates, and Delta Epsilon Chi, the national honor fraternity for ministers. Having begun her career as a minister, Dr. Richter regularly serves as an instructor in the local church, at educational conferences, and at parachurch groups such as Campus Crusade for Christ and L’Abri Fellowship. She is married to Steven Tsoukalas, and the proud parent of Noel Christianna and Elise Anastasis Tsoukalas.
