Dr. Muck joined Asbury’s E. Stanley Jones School of World Mission and Evangelism in the fall of 2000 after teaching 10 years at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. During the decade of the eighties, Dr. Muck held various positions at Christianity Today, Inc. including executive editor of Christianity Today Magazine and editor of Leadership Journal. He has also taught at Wheaton College, Northwestern University, and Bethel College.

Dr. Muck has authored nine books, including A Pocket Guide to American Religion (Doubleday, forthcoming), Buddhists Talk about Jesus, Christians Talk About the Buddha (Continuum, 2000), and Ministry and Theology in Global Perspective: Contemporary Challenges for the Church (Eerdman’s, 1996). His articles have appeared in various theological dictionaries and encyclopedias and in such periodicals as Missiology, Books and Culture, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Buddhist-Christian Studies, Evangelical Missions Quarterly, and The Washington Post. He co-edits the Buddhist Christian Studies Journal and is the general editor of the NIV Application Commentary, a 19-volme New Testament commentary and 23-volume Old Testament commentary. Dr. Muck also took over as Editor of Missiology: An International Review in 2002.

Dr. Muck, an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), is a popular speaker and member of numerous denominational and ecumenical commissions and committees. He is married to Frances Adeney, professor of mission at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary.
