Certification in Advanced Theological Studies and Bachelor of Arts

The Latino/Latina Studies Program (LLSP) is focused on students who are interested in Advanced Theological Studies. Our purpose is to educate servant leaders who understand the diversity of culture and proclaim the centrality of Christ. Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with the Latino/a churches to provide them with an education that meets their specific needs. Our mission is to send well-equipped, sanctified men and women to proclaim the gospel. Our passion is to prepare leaders spiritually and intellectually in order to set congregations on fire with the message of Christ’s love and grace.

We typically see two types of students. There are some who simply wish to deepen their knowledge of theology, biblical studies, and/or counseling. These students can accomplish this by completing the Certification in Advanced Theological Studies. Other students come because they have felt a call to full-time ministry and are seeking to achieve an academic degree. Such students will work toward completing a Bachelor of Arts.

There are the two possible tracks. The Certification in Theological Studies includes ten core courses and six in one area of concentration, which are Pastoral Studies and Counseling. This certification is a total of 48 credit hours. The other option has been made available thanks to a partnership with Laurel University. Students are required to complete a total of 60 credit hours through LLSP, which along with 60 additional hours through Laurel will entitle them to a bachelor’s degree granted by Laurel University. Having completed this degree our students have the opportunity to continue with graduate studies in a seminary.

The advantages of completing a certification or degree through LLSP are many. Our professors are top-notch educators, most of whom have a doctoral degree (all professors must have at least a Masters in Divinity, Theology, or Counseling to be able to teach in LLSP). Our classes are in Spanish and are taught from a Latino/a perspective. The cost of classes is minimal. And all the courses are offered at night, since many of our students work full time.
