International Applicant

Today Christianity is, by far, the most ethnically diverse movement of any kind, religious or otherwise, on the entire planet. But there is still much work to be done. There are thousands of people groups around the globe who still have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus is fulfilling His promise to build His Church and call men and women from every tongue, tribe and nation to Himself. Asbury Seminary is committed to strengthening the Global Church, and plays a leading role in helping to train hundreds of new pastors and teachers who are needed to shepherd these new flocks. Asbury Theological Seminary is  blessed to have International Students representing 43 countries including Nigeria, Estonia, New Zealand and Brazil!

Admission Procedures

All International Students must complete the Admissions Process for the degree program for which they are applying. In addition to the admission requirements and procedures, International students are required to submit:

  1. Official course-by-course transcripts (English-translation required; transcripts must include an interpretation of the grading system) from all postsecondary schools where a degree was granted or more than one semester of coursework was completed. Th.M. and Ph.D. applicants must submit official transcripts of all postsecondary schools. If a degree was granted, the official document must list the degree conferred and the date of conferral. Please note that we do not accept as official transcripts emailed from the school unless they are sent through a clearing house such as eScript or eScrip-safe. Further, to assist in timely processing, we recommend that all transcripts be evaluated by World Education Services (www.wes.edu).
  2. International students intending to study residentially (i.e. not taking online courses) may apply only to a degree of study. Such students cannot apply to a certificate program or as either an unclassified student or visiting student without approval from the Vice President of Enrollment Management Services in consultation with the Director of Admissions and the Manager of International Student Services.
  3. International students are encouraged to apply at least two semesters in advance of their expected enrollment term. Graduate level students may apply to begin in either the fall or spring semester; only MAMHC and MAPC applicants may apply for the summer term.

English Proficiency

For those applicants whose native language is not English the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) will be required.
