National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS)

You can manage your student loan debt by accessing your federal student loan records through the National Student Loan Database System. This system tracks all federal student loans you have on record from any institution within the U.S.

Deferment

If you meet the eligibility requirements, your lender may grant you a deferment which temporarily postpones your loan repayment for a specific period of time. The most common types of deferments are enrolled in school at least half time, economic hardship, unemployment and military service deferments. Contact your lender(s) for details and eligibility requirements.

Forbearance

Your lender may grant you a forbearance, which also temporarily postpones your loan repayment for a specific period of time, if you meet the eligibility requirements. The most common types of forbearance are medical internship, Department of Defense, AmeriCorps and student loan debt-to-income ratio. Contact your lender(s) for details and eligibility requirements.

Updating contact information

It is important to keep your contact information updated with both the Seminary and your lender(s). This will ensure receipt of important correspondence in a timely manner.

Office of the Ombudsman

The purpose of the Ombudsman is to assist student borrowers who have tried through normal customer service offices to resolve a student loan problem and have not been successful. The Ombudsman will research the student’s complaint and serve as a liaison between the lender and student. You can contact the Office of the Ombudsman using any of the following methods:
