North Shore Community Baptist Church is a community of believers on the North Shore of Boston with an average Sunday morning attendance of about 400. The church is affiliated with the Baptist General Conference and consists of people from a dozen area communities as well as from nearby Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Our two morning worship services blend contemporary and traditional music. We see our growing small group ministry as central to our church's future. Other strengths include global missions, pastoral leadership, facilities, well-balanced age-distribution and caring for one another in times of need. We are seeking a new Senior Pastor to replace our pastor of the past 19 years who is retiring next spring. A candidate for this position must have an MDiv or higher degree and a minimum 8 years relevant pastoral experience, including significant experience as a Senior Pastor. Ideally, a candidate's experience will have included pastoral ministry in a church of size comparable to ours. Our next Senior Pastor must have a firm commitment to biblical authority and a spirit consonant with our guiding statement: "embracing people with grace and truth." Our two most recent Senior Pastors have had ministries with us of 12 and nearly 20 years respectively, and we are seeking an individual desiring a similar long term ministry among us.

Senior pastor of an international church near the center of Kaohsiung, Taiwan's second largest city. We have a congregation of about 50 - 60 which is made up of foreigners (mostly young English teachers) and English-speaking Taiwanese.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have some theological education and ministry experience. He should also be ordained or able to be ordained before he comes for visa reasons.
DUTIES
We have four main areas which we consider important in a pastoral candidate.
Most importantly, both in his lifestyle and his preaching, the pastor should model, and motivate the church to pursue, full devotion to Jesus Christ.
Secondly, he should set leadership development and training as a priority. We need someone to mentor and guide our group of young leaders, as well as encouraging people who have never been in leadership before to get involved.
Thirdly, pastoral care for the whole congregation is very important. Our congregation is largely young and away from home. We hope the pastor would make himself available and approachable to anyone in the church, and try hard to get to know all the individuals who come regularly.
Fourthly, we hope that the pastor will help us to develop a long-term goal and vision for the church. For this reason, we hope that any candidate would be willing to commit to the church for at least 5 years, barring exceptional circumstances.
Our bilingual secretary will assist with any administrative tasks. We have been without a pastor for over a year, so there is a core of leadership who are strongly committed to the church and keen to assist any future pastor in helping the church grow.
SALARY
$20,000. This could be increased in the future. Note that Taiwan's cost of living is substantially lower than that of the US.
