Purpose:

This position exists in order to further the ministry and outreach of Faith United Community Church, especially as it pertains to the youth of the church family and the surrounding community, seeking to:
1. Lead young people to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior,

Relationships:

1. The Youth Pastor will work under direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and will be accountable to both him and the Board.
2. He/She shall, at a minimum, meet monthly with the Senior Pastor, at a time mutually agreeable, for planning, sharing and prayer.
3. He/She shall give a weekly account of previous week of ministry and plans for upcoming ministry
4. He/She shall serve on the Faith United Community Church Board as a non-voting advisory member, giving brief monthly verbal summaries of work.
5. He/She shall seek to be licensed and or recognized by the International Fellowship of Bible Churches and cooperate with IFBC leadership.
6. He/She shall present a written annual report to the Board and file such annual reports.
7. He/She must agree with the Statement of Beliefs and the By-laws of Faith United Community Church

Youth Ministries: Giving Leadership to the Overall Youth/Children Program of the Church

1. Guided and direct the regular devotional youth meetings.
2. Provide curriculum for volunteer leaders to lead classes for both the Youth Program and the Children Program
3. Develop and maintain a regular worship program for the youth.
4. Provide a regular schedule of group socials.
5. Plan such special activities (outings, retreats, camps, projects, service opportunities, youth nights, etc.) as may be desired, seeking a healthy balance of events to win young people to Christ, build them up in their faith and equip them to minister to their peers.
6. Meet monthly with the youth/ministry team for planning and prayer.
7. Develop leadership among the youth, while maintaining a strong position of vision and direction, as their leader.
8. Seek to meet with each individual young person to ascertain his/her relationship to Christ and to discover needs that should be ministered to.
9. Address al of the critical youth issue (i.e. sexuality, dating, drugs, parents, self-image, abortion, suicide, music, knowing God's will, honesty, movies, etc.) with sound, Biblical teaching.
10. Participate in IFBC and area youth activities as much as possible.
11. Keep accurate records of youth activities, attendance and finances.
12. Submit a proposed budget for youth ministries to the Board, annually with periodic updates.
13. Confer with the Senior Pastor when considering any major changes or innovation in the youth ministry.
14. Develop means to dialog and share with parents of the youth.

General Ministries:

1. Be involved in whatever other areas of ministry, such as music or drama, as may be agreed upon, according to gifs and interest.
2. Attend and participate in all worship services and church functions, unless the Senior Pastor agrees upon absence
3. Develop and organize an outreach ministry to coordinate with church activities, such as Upward Basketball.
4. Assist in whatever platform responsibilities as may be requested by the Senior Pastor from time to time.
5. Make an average of 7-10 calls and/or visits (pastoral care contacts) per week. These may include young people, families with youth, new contacts, absentees, hospital calls, etc.
6. Be cooperative to assist in other ministry needs.
7. Maintain personal propriety and integrity that is appropriate as a minister of the Gospel and a representative of the Lord and this Church.

Terms of Employment:

1. The Church Board upon the recommendation of the Senior Pastor and/or Pastoral Relations Committee shall hire the Youth Pastor.
2. There will be a probationary period of 6 months to evaluate the ministry.
3. The Church Board shall arrange the salary package.
4. Termination of this relationship may be at the request of the Senior Pastor and/or the Church Board, or by resignation of the Youth Pastor.
5. Vacation time shall be allotted as outlined in the by-laws.
6. Time spent at youth camps, conferences, and IFBC meetings is not considered vacation.
7. An addition Sunday away, when ministry is maintained during the week, may be granted at the discretion of the Board, for special needs a few times during the year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Ministry or Related or Seminary degree or seminary work.

The Coordinator of Youth Ministries shall respond to the spiritual and social needs of the 7th-8th grand & the 9th-12th grade youth in the church by providing for integrated ministry programming. -Fosters growth in Biblical knowledge, prayer and understanding of the Gospel for the youth of the church, including providing recurring opportunities for individual commitments.
-Develops a variety of events/retreats on a yearly basis as part of an effort to meet the spiritual needs of the youth. These events/retreats should include time for spiritual reflection and fun filled community building.
-Guides the youth in the development of a social consciousness and commitment to a life of social justice and service grounded in their faith in Jesus Christ.
-Builds a mission initiative for the youth involving them in domestic (ie. work camp, Open Shelter and UM Free Store) and foreign mission opportunities. Participates in same.
-Works in tandem with Missions Ministry leaders, assisting in pre-work camp planning and marketing, visiting work camps and facilitating programming that allows the work camp spiritual energy to continue post-work camp.
-Coordinates the confirmation program for those in 7th grade (and older students who have not yet participated in confirmation).
-Leads selected adult volunteers and youth in Leadership Council, a planning group for youth events and programming.
-Recruits, trains, appreciates and retains adult youth ministry volunteers. Spends sufficient time with youth ministry volunteers to provide for long-range planning of curriculum and events.
-Continually evaluates the Youth Ministry program to ensure objectives are being met.
-Shall continually monitor safety practices in order to comply with Safe Sanctuary and Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church approved policies.
-Designs, implements and coordinates worship service experiences for youth.
-Designs and maintains filing and record keeping systems for all youth ministry programs. These records shall remain the property of the church.
-Becomes acquainted with and follows office procedures and policies of the church.
-Participates in staff meetings and retreats.
-Responsible for youth ministry budget (planning and accounting).
-Participates in continuing education events relating to job description as church budget allows.

Provide oversight to the planning, development, and implementation of the Junior and Senior High youth programming, to include but not limited to: Sunday School, Sunday evening program, mid-week discipling group(s), social activities, district/denominational youth activities, Bible quizzing, ministry/service activities, youth worship involvement, outreach/evangelism and missions experiences.
2. Be available to counsel youth.
3. Initiate times of one-on-one contact with youth - spending one-quarter to one-third of his time in direct personal contact with the youth outside of church activity.
4. Recruit, train, and supervise both adult volunteer youth leaders and teen-peer leaders, with focus on discipling and developing these leaders in their respective ministries.
5. Work in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and Deacons in providing pastoral care and assistance to teens and their families who are hospitalized, or experiencing other serious difficulties, crises, or trauma.
6. Observe all appropriate church policies within the youth program, and seek to develop a safe and secure environment for our young people.
7. Work closely with the Christian Education Board in setting educational policies and implementing them in the youth ministry program and structure as appropriate.

SALARY

$40,000 base salary - plus benefits and expense allowances
