Asbury Theological Seminary

Single Housing Information

The residence hall is both a home and study hall for its residents. Due consideration for one another is essential at all times, and particularly during those periods normally used for study and sleep.

(1) Single students are allowed to occupy residence rooms during the period of their full-time enrollment at the Seminary (i.e. at least nine hours both fall and spring sessions).

(2) Only persons assigned to a residence hall room are entitled to reside in the residence halls, with the exception of short-term visits by relatives and friends. Overnight visitors must register with the Resident Assistant (R.A.) and are entitled to stay three nights without charge ($15/night beyond three nights).

(3) Hallways, stairwells, and exits must be kept clear at all times.

(4) Cooking appliances (including microwaves) are not permitted in individual rooms. Kitchens are available with microwaves for use by residents. These facilities are not a substitute for the requirement that every full-time resident of the residence halls must be on a meal plan. Please see the Seminary’s Catalog for full meal plan details and policies.

(5) Firearms, weapons, flammable materials, and any other items regarded by the Seminary as inappropriate are not allowed in the residence halls.

(6) Laundry facilities are located in the lower level of Newton Grice Hall, Larabee-Morris Hall, and Orlean House. These contain coin-operated washers and dryers for students’ use.

(7) Open storage areas are available for each occupant in Newton W. Grice Hall and Larabee-Morris Hall. Locked storage cages are provided for each resident in Orlean House.

(8) Removable stick-on hooks are approved for hanging lightweight pictures on the walls. Nails or screws should not be used on the walls.

(9) Painting or refinishing of any part of the interior or any of the furniture is prohibited except by written permission of the Physical Plant Director.

(10) Cable television and VCRs are available in the main lounges of each residence hall. Cable hookup is not permitted in individual rooms. Individual rooms do not have Ethernet or other wired network connections, but the residence halls are equipped with wireless connections to the campus network (through the student’s individual log in) and the Internet.

(11) Rooms are equipped with a phone jack. Hookup and service must be obtained directly from Alltel at 800.843.9214.

(12) All full-time residents are required to purchase a meal plan for use in the Seminary’s dining hall. Information is available in the Business Office or at the following link: http://www.asburyseminary.edu/current/dining-services.

(13) The mailing address for all on-campus residents is the Seminary’s main address ( 204 N Lexington Ave, Wilmore, KY 40390) and must include the student’s name and box number. Once students arrive on campus, they may contact the Seminary Post Office (SPO) to receive their box number and combination.

(14) Fire codes do not permit items to be stored in or around the water heaters.

(15) The Seminary endeavors to maintain the residence halls in good condition. Students’ cooperation in keeping them this way and in reporting needed repairs and maintenance to the Resident Assistants is appreciated.

(16) Resident Assistants are housed on every floor and are available for support and community life programming.
