Larry L. Clapp, Sr. (M.Div., 1971) died on January 16, 2013, at the age of 75. He was born on August 20, 1937 in Custer, Ohio. Larry’s life was devoted to Christ and the church. He received his bachelor’s degree in Theology from Bluffton University in Ohio. He taught Theology at Eastern Christian School in Maryland and later taught grade school in Indiana. He was a Church of Christ ordained minister and served at Greiner Avenue Church of Christ and Geneva Street Church of Christ. He was a loving husband of Carol, and a dear father of Larry Jr, Brent (Melissa) and Jerald (Latresa). 

Thayne A. Erney (M.Div., 1960) of St. Louis City, Missouri passed away Monday August 1, 2016 leaving his loving spouse, family, and friends to forever cherish his memory.

Rev. Craig L. Lyman (M.Div., 1967) died on April 30, 2016 at the Meadville Medical Center. He was born in Buffalo, New York on May 2, 1940 the son of the late Leonard Lyman and Beatrice Haist Lyman. He married Sheila Hall in June 1963. She died after a battle with cancer in October 1987. He then married Patricia Tallman on October 29, 1988. Craig graduated from Clarence Central High School in 1958; Houghton College, in 1963 and earned his Master of Divinity Degree at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1967. He received his Probationer’s License in 1960. While in college he served in two appointments as a student pastor. After graduating seminary he was ordained into the ministry and served churches in the Kentucky Redbird Mission (EUB denomination). In 1982 he transferred to the WPA United Methodist Church Conference, where he served an additional 18 years in four churches, including the Albion Calvary and the Sandy Lake Lakeview United Methodist Churches. He retired from the active ministry in 2000 following 40 years of service as a minister of the Gospel. Craig had a sincere desire for others to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He sought always to follow the Scripture in I Peter 3:15 which says, “…if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.”  While living at Juniper Village in Meadville, he formed a group of residents who memorized Scripture verses each week. He loved to read and for several years had regularly bowled in three bowling leagues. Born with a wonderful sense of humor, he usually had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed.

Rev. Dr. William H. McKain, age 85, passed away Friday at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center, Louisville, KY. He was a native of Hobbs, New Mexico. He was a geologist and later became a Minister in the United Methodist Church, where he served as Pastor of many different congregations. His last assignment was Harrison Avenue United Methodist Church, Clarksville, IN. He was a professor at Asbury Theological Seminary and Director of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care at  Methodist Evangelical Hospital in Louisville, KY. He is survived by 3 sons Thomas W. McKain, M.D. (Pat) New Albany, Indiana, J. Chris McKai n (Colleen) McKain Charlestown, IN, David W.McKain (Lisa) Hamilton, Ohio; 2 daughters Kathy D. Hankins Salem, IN, Lynn Jacobs (Doug Hamilton, Ohio.

Rev. Nann McMullen (M.A., 13) passed away on  August 7, 2016 in Haynesville, LA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Jean McDonald and step-mother, Sally Lee Carl Daniel and the grandparents that raised her C.L. and Mary Clem McDonald and the great-grandmother who spoiled her, Nona Hampton. Left to cherish her memory are her father, James Thomas Daniel of Cleveland, TX; bonus mom, Aliscia L. Banks and husband, Steve of Monroe, LA, bonus sister Molly Pilgreen and bonus brother Liles Banks. Rev. McMullen is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in education. She later pursued her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy where she practiced in Rapides Parish. At the age of 43 Nann found her passion and began her pursuit of service to the Lord. She attended Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. Upon graduation, she received her first assignment at Haynesville United Methodist Church in Louisiana. While there, she quickly became submersed into the church and the community. The people of Haynesville called her “The Peoples Pastor”, where she ministered to whomever was in need regardless of religion, race or creed. Her contagious smile will be missed by all.
