POSTGRADUATE SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIPS
Postgraduate Support Scholarships are available to Ph.D., D.Miss, and Th.M. students. Merit is the primary criterion for granting Postgraduate Support Scholarships, with need as a secondary, yet still significant, criterion. Postgraduate students may receive 25, 50, 75, or 100 percent tuition waivers, though Th.M. students will not be considered for full tuition scholarships. All applicants admitted for these degree programs by Feb. 1st will be invited to apply for the Postgraduate Support Scholarship via email. Applicants are required to complete a Postgraduate Support Scholarship Application, including a 1000 word essay, answering this question: “Students who are passionate about their dissertation research tend to make more innovative contributions to their fields of study. Describe your passion for your research and how it will equip you for your future?” The deadline for application submittal is Feb. 15.
Fifty percent of the Postgraduate Support Scholarship is a forgivable loan upon completion of the degree within the time limits for completion as found in the catalog (e.g., a student receiving a 50 percent tuition waiver has a grant worth 25 percent and a loan worth 25 percent that is forgivable upon successful completion within the required time.)
One hundred percent recipients may be eligible for stipends, with the stipend to be determined annually.
Requirements of Postgraduate Support Scholars shall include:
- Maintenance of a GPA in accordance with the published seminary standards for continuation without probation.
Special Scholarships for MA/MDiv Students
Special Scholarships are generated from either Endowed or Restricted funds. Recipients of Special Scholarships must represent strong promise for Christian ministry and demonstrate need, as determined by the Financial Aid Committee. The Asbury Theological Seminary Financial Aid Application serves as the application for all institutional scholarships. The Financial Aid Committee makes awards. Each year a student may request renewal of a Special Scholarship by filing a new Asbury Theological Seminary Financial Aid Application and a FAFSA by March 1.
