Dr. Jeffrey W. Frymire has been appointed associate professor of homiletics, effective July 1, 2012, to serve on Asbury Theological Seminary’s Florida Dunnam Campus.

Dr. Frymire holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Practical Theology (Concentration: Homiletics) from Fuller Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Religion from Anderson University School of Religion, and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Anderson University.

Dr. Frymire served as adjunct faculty at Fuller Theological Seminary and was awarded a two-year post-doctoral teaching fellowship from Princeton Theological Seminary. He published Preaching the Story: How to Communicate God’s Word through Narrative Sermons in 2006. His areas of academic interest include homiletics (narrative preaching and issues related to performance theory in preaching), creativity (both as it is understood theoretically in communication and as it is practiced in homiletics), speech communication (theory and practice; use of the vocal orchestration), and church leadership (as understood in practical theology models for the Church).

Dr. Frymire brings 31 years of pastoral experience in the Church of God Anderson to his task as professor of preaching at Asbury Seminary, as well as a wide variety of administrative and preaching assignments.

Dr. Leslie A. Andrews, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost, says, “Asbury Theological Seminary is indeed blessed to have Dr. Frymire join its faculty. His years of pastoral ministry, demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship, and passion for preaching will serve our students well.”
