Asbury Theological Seminary announces the Certification of Bible Institutes for its Latino/a Studies Program (LLSP) on the Florida Dunnam Campus. This certification allows students to apply for a master’s degree program at any school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools after completing the 60-hour bachelor’s degree in the LLSP program.

This certification is a collaborative effort between the Association of Theological Schools and The Association for Hispanic Theological Education. The Seminary’s program is one of the first to receive this certification.

“For nearly 15 years, LLSP has served the Latino community in the Central Florida area by providing quality theological education in Spanish,” Lizette Acosta, Director of LLSP, said. “This new certification is a terrific opportunity for our students to fulfill their desires for further education. We are excited about what this change will mean for LLSP and anticipate the tremendous impact it will have on our community for the Kingdom of God!”

LLSP currently has two track options within the program. In addition to the diploma to master’s option, students may also complete a 36-hour certificate. This track is designed to be both time and cost effective for students who do not wish to pursue higher education.

LLSP focuses on students interested in Advanced Theological Studies and is designed to equip leaders to meet the specific needs of Latino/a leaders and their churches. All classes are taught in Spanish from a Latino/a perspective and are offered in the evening. The program seeks to prepare leaders spiritually and intellectually in order to set congregations on fire with the message of Christ’s love and grace.
