Dr. Javier Sierra received a Licenciatura en Sicologa from the Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Honduras, 1989; and a M.A. (1998) and Psy.D. (2004) from Wheaton College. Dr. Sierra is associate professor of Counseling and Pastoral Care. He is also a licensed health counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Florida.
Dr. Sierra was a professional counselor and family and marriage therapist in the Chicago area for several years. He now practices in Orlando, Florida. He contributes with the pre-martial and the addictions ministries at his local church. His commitment to the growth of the Latino church has taken him to provide marriage enrichment and parenting workshops and seminars in various Latina churches in the area as well as other Latin countries. His teaching has also extended to the training of pastoral and lay counselors in several countries in Latin America. Dr. Sierra is the 1998 recipient of the Arthur and Jean Rech Award: Integration of Faith and Practice, Academic Excellence and Professional Proficiency from Wheaton College and the 2010 recipient of the Faculty Award for Excellence in Mentoring from Asbury Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Dr. Georgina Panting, have five children.
