Nov. 13-14: N.T. Wright to Visit Asbury Seminary (Ky.)

N.T. "Tom" Wright, the Bishop of Durham in the Church of England and a leading British New Testament scholar, will visit Asbury Theological Seminary Nov. 13-14, 2007. He will present a series of lectures. This lecture series is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be held in Estes Chapel on the Kentucky campus of Asbury Seminary.

Born in 1948 in Northumberland, England, Wright studied for the ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and was ordained as Junior Research Fellow and Junior Chaplain at Merton College, Oxford. From 1978 to 1981 he was Fellow and Chaplain at Downing College, Cambridge, and then moved to Montreal as Assistant Professor of New Testament Studies at McGill University. He returned in 1986 to Oxford as University Lecturer in New Testament, and Fellow and Chaplain of Worcester College, Oxford. He became Dean of Lichfield in 1994, and Canon Theologian of Westminster Abbey in 2000. Since 2003, Wright has presided as the Bishop of Durham for the Church of England.

Wright has written over forty books, both at the scholarly level and for a popular audience. His most recent book is Evil and the Justice of God. He is a frequent speaker on radio and television. Bishop Wright is married with four children and two grandchildren.
