Healing Prayer Training

A Two-Year Practicum Experience

The Healing Academy is a training school that offers prayer education in the context of mentored groups, which connects students and spouses with the best of ancient and current wisdom in the healing prayer tradition.

The Healing Academy provides healing prayer teams during Wednesday Eucharist in Kentucky Chapel services, on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Florida Dunnam Campus, and at many other events throughout the Seminary.

In addition to providing ways and means for students to appropriate healing in their own lives, the Seminary offers the theological and practical resources needed to equip and empower persons to be healing agents in the context of their local church and para-church ministries.

Participation in the Healing Academy is granted by application only, and participants are expected to continue their training and service through the end of the two-year commitment.

Healing Academy Curriculum

The curriculum is organized by levels. In Level 1, students focus on learning the basic concepts of healing prayer ministry and on their own personal healing journey. At this level, students also participate in altar ministry to begin to practice Healing Prayer Ministry. In Level 2, students are given more opportunity to go deeper in their own practice and begin to articulate their understanding of concepts to others. Level 2 students help facilitate Coaching Groups and assist in the Grace Retreat ministry. Level 3 is an internship including personal mentoring with Peg Hutchins.

Healing Academy Training Schedule

Training for the Healing Academy is founded on teaching and coaching. Please check the Healing Academy Calendar for specific dates for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Teaching Modules

In Fall of 2014, the Healing Academy published the 2-year training curriculum in a manual format so all participants are able to progress through standardized teachings modules regardless of location.

Kentucky: Healing Academy participants meet on specific Mondays of each month (September – May) at designated times in MC205-206. Level 1 students meet from 10:00-11:30am, and Level 2 students meet from 1:00-2:30pm. Audio is recorded for ExL and Florida for review ot the modules during the week.

Florida: Healing Academy participants on the Florida Dunnam meet each Tuesday (September – May) from 12:00-1:00pm in the Community Formation office for training via web conference with the Healing Academy Director. These sessions may cover the module material or other information. There may be an opportunity for ExL students to participate via web conference, if desired.

ExL: Beginning in Fall 2014, ExL Healing Academy participants will be able to participate in training by reviewing the recorded training module sessions.

Coaching Groups

Sign up for Coaching Groups online.

These sessions offer time for mentoring in which participants receive feedback on their healing prayer practice, provide opportunities for a question and answer session, and function as a safe learning environment for healing prayer. Coaching groups include 4 to 6 people. At each session, the group is led in a time of discussion and hands-on activation to share and apply the material learned in each training module.

During the coaching sessions participants have experienced God’s healing in various areas of their lives, both spiritual and physical. They share that God healed specific struggles such as anxiety, perfectionism, living in legalism, self-control, and physical pain.

Kentucky: Coaching groups for Kentucky students meet for 90 minutes on certain Mondays throughout the semester.

Orlando/ExL: Healing Academy participants will participate in coaching groups in Fall 2015 via web conference to accommodate commuter and work schedules.
