My Charge to the 2026 Graduating Class of Asbury Theological Seminary

It was my privilege to deliver a brief charge to Asbury Theological Seminary’s 2026 graduating class. My charge was entitled “Guard the Good Treasure.” I recall a woman named Alice Johnson who taught the children at University United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, in the 1960s and 70s. I was one of those children. People like Mrs. Johnson have an impact that far exceeds the recognition they will ever receive in this life. It is our responsibility to guard the good treasure that she and other faithful saints have passed on to us.
