Certificate in Aging and Spirituality (Certificate in Aging and Spirituality)

Asbury Seminary’s 15-hour Certificate in Aging and Spirituality allows you to explore a vocation of educational leadership, discipleship and spiritual formation across each lifespan as you nurture those within the local and global church, para-church and other organizations.

The certificate options are non-degree programs, but they enable you to test a call to ministry by experiencing one year of seminary education. Certificates also fulfill continuing education requirements or form a solid foundation of academic credits for those who desire to continue their education and pursue a degree.

What to Expect from the Certificate

As you complete your certificate, you’ll be able to

  • Articulate and integrate a practical theology of human aging and elderhood grounded in the biblical narrative, orthodox theology, human sciences, church tradition and experience.
  • Demonstrate insight into the historic and current cultural contexts of aging among diverse populations, along with the potential needs of older adults, as well as their caregivers.
  • Develop proficiency in professional, holistic spiritual nurture of older adults through congregational leadership, pastoral care, chaplaincy, program development, care giving and advocacy.
