Two healthy small town congregations in Southeast Nebraska are in search of one shared full-time Senior pastor who will preach, teach, and lead both congregations in mission and ministry. Ministry focuses include education, community outreach, and local ecumenical connections.
The congregations are located 20 minutes apart in separate farming communities. There is a larger town that connects both farming communities where many of the members of both congregations work and live. Our heritage is UCC, but both congregations are theologically conservative evangelical. One congregation has removed itself from UCC fellowship and united with the Evangelical Association while one congregation remains in UCC fellowship. Church of the Apostles is located in Raliegh, North Carolina and is seeking a full-time Church Planter in Residence.  The role of the Church Planter in Residence is to work in harmony with the Senior Pastor, have a firm grip on the purpose, values, and strategy of Church of the Apostles, and align key leadership teams with its mission.  The Church planter in Residence will serve as clergy on the church staff for 3+ years with a goal of planting a new daughter church at the end of that time.  The Church Planter in Residence’s responsibilities will be laid out to facilitate planting the new church.  Key ministry responsibilities include:  assisting with the leadership of Sunday AM worship services, including planning the order of worship, leading prayers, administering the sacraments of Communion and baptism, and preaching, leading or assisting pastoral care in the church body, ministering to those in need of counseling and care, gain direct ministry experience by leading and participating in the major ministries of the church (these include: Youth, Children, Men, Women, Community Groups, Missions, Building, Finance), assisting with teaching in various church classes and programs (i.e. Membership, Baptism classes, Sunday School, First Communion, etc.), meeting regularly with congregants for discipling and proactive care, and participate in the Ordination process and complete by program end (unless already ordained in the Anglican church).  Also during the term of the position, they will lead for one-year time, at least two major programs of the church as directed by the Senior Pastor.  More detail on the planned training for this role is found in the 2012 Church Planting Book.  

Key leadership responsibilities include:  participating in monthly meetings with the Senior Pastor for mentoring and sharing the challenges and struggles related with leading a church, meeting regularly with a lay led Board of Advisors and Leadership coach, participating in the applicable Anglican Pastor development program, attending all Leadership Council (Vestry) meetings after the first year of employment, and recruiting, training and equipping new leaders in ministries under supervision.  Key financial responsibilities include: attending all church Finance Meetings and meet with team members as needed to insure full understanding of financial issue and in year three developing a three-year financial model for the planted church.  Key church planting responsibilities (year 3+ depending on timing): transitioning out of direct ministry responsibility, recruiting core team and developing Mission and Vision for the planted church, and recruiting Launch team and holding regular training and vision casting meetings.
