Dr. David Gyertson joined the Asbury Theological Seminary administration in August 2015. Dr. Gyertson has a broad background in higher education, publishing, consulting, executive coaching, ministry and media and has held senior leadership positions in religious, charitable and educational environments, including international and cross-cultural settings. Before coming to Asbury Theological Seminary, he served as interim Headmaster of Maranatha High School in Pasadena, CA. Prior to that he was Distinguished Professor of Leadership Formation and Renewal at Regent University in Virginia. David was a founding team member of the University in 1977 and returned as President in 1990. Dr. Gyertson also served as President of Asbury University and Taylor University.
Dr. Gyertson is an ordained minister having served in senior pastoral positions in Free Methodist and Presbyterian settings. In addition, Dr. Gyertson is a strategic initiatives consultant and executive coach to faith-based organizations and their leaders specializing in board governance training, transition planning and special projects implementation. He conducts leadership retreats in areas of spiritual formation for organizational leaders, ministry professionals and others desiring to grow personally and professionally as committed followers of Christ. He has delivered numerous lectures and published articles, chapters and books on a variety of topics related to Christian thought and practice, executive leadership as well as Scripture studies and is a frequent speaker/lecturer at conferences, camps, schools, universities & churches.
David’s wife Nancy is a retired elementary school teacher. Their daughter Andrea and her husband Brady are actively involved in the film industry in Los Angeles. The Gyertson’s have two grand children.
