At its Fall 2014 meeting, Asbury Theological Seminary elected four new members to its Board of Trustees. Their terms of office will begin in January 2015.

Reverend Anna Jackson

The Reverend Anna Jackson is an experienced United Methodist pastor in the Florida Conference.  A 1995 graduate of the Seminary, Jackson previously served in the Wesley Foundation at Texas Tech and at the University of Central Florida and in pastorates at New Hope (a church start) in Orlando and at Killearn United Methodist Church in Tallahassee.  She has also been a member of the Florida Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry and was ordained Full Elder in the New Mexico/Northwest Texas Conference in 2000.

Dr. Joanne Lyon

Rev. Dr. Joanne Lyon is General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church, based in Fishers, IN. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Lyon has pursued further study in historical theology at St. Louis University.  In the back bedroom of her home in 1996, Lyon began World Hope International, a Christian relief and development organization, which today works in 14 of the poorest countries in the world. She served as CEO of that organization until her election as General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church in 2008. She has been awarded several honorary degrees, including the Doctor of Humane Letters from Asbury Seminary.  She served as an Adjunct Professor at Asbury Seminary in the Church and Society Department from 1985-1991.

Dr. Robert Joseph Phillips

Dr. Robert Joseph Phillips

Dr. Robert Joseph Phillips retired in 2005 as a Captain in the US Navy Chaplain Corps, having served Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard assignments in the United States and the Far East as well as 11 years of operational/sea duty on aircraft carriers and Marine Corps units. He is currently pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Peoria, IL and a member of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Illinois, Phillips is a 1974 MDiv graduate of Asbury Seminary and earned the M.Litt. degree from the University of St. Andrews and his ThM and DMin degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary. His DMin dissertation project at Princeton became a foundation document for the development of training throughout the U.S. Navy for those called to deliver death notifications to next-of-kin.

Dr. Amy (Lerner) Wasserbauer

Dr. Amy (Lerner) Wasserbauer

Dr. Amy (Lerner) Wasserbauer is a clinical psychologist, currently in the department of Counseling Services at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.  A graduate of the University of Kentucky and with two degrees received with honors from Asbury Seminary, Wasserbauer earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Seattle Pacific University in 2002. She has lectured widely on eating disorders and was a therapist and assistant clinical director of a treatment center for eating disorders in Arizona. Her research projects and her dissertation topic were on the subject of burnout among helping professionals.
