Abbott web-2015Asbury Theological Seminary announces Dr. Mark Abbott as the Director of Hispanic Distributed Learning. In his new position, Dr. Abbott will coordinate bilingual course design and development to help Hispanic students and faculty embrace the tools needed for successful online learning. Dr. Abbott joins Dr. Danny Roman Gloro, recently promoted Director of the Hispanic Initiative, and Rev. Lizette Acosta, Director of the Latino/Latina Studies Program (LLSP), to form the Asbury Hispanic Initiative team.

“I believe that God has united this uniquely gifted team of leaders to launch the Hispanic Initiative into a new season of ministry and partnership with the Latino/a Communities in Florida and beyond,” Dr. Steve Gober, Vice President of the Florida Dunnam Campus, said.

Prior to coming to Asbury Seminary, Dr. Abbott served as Director of Non-Degree Programs and Course Study at United Theological Seminary. He also served as the Academic Dean and Professor of New Testament at the Seminary of the Spanish Evangelical Church (Spain), Professor of New Testament and Academic Dean at Seminario Juan Wesley (Mexico), Professor of New Testament at Seminario Evangelico Unido de Teologia (Spain).

He pastored the First United Methodist Church (Texas) and the Community Church of Madrid (Spain).
