advocating-for-justiceDr. Gregg Okesson, Dean of the E. Stanley Jones School of World Evangelism, and Dr. Stephen W. Offutt, Assistant Professor of Development Studies, at Asbury Theological Seminary published Advocating for Justice: An Evangelical Vision for Transforming Systems and Structure.

The book provides practices and strategies for Christians with a desire to transform systems and structures for social change. The authors define the problem of social justice, discuss the theology of advocacy and develop ways to practice advocacy in the 21st century.

Dr. Okesson served 10 years at Scott Christian University in Kenya prior to coming to Asbury Seminary in 2011. He has also served as a pastor in upstate New York and a church-planter among a Muslim people-group in Tanzania. He is interested in the linkages between theology, mission and global realities, particularly those with poverty, development, power, institutions and social engagement.

Dr. Offutt has worked for more than five years in Christian development and mission organizations in Central America and South Africa. He is interested in the intersection of faith, global poverty and international development.

Additional authors contributing academic expertise coupled with practical experience include F. David Bronkema, Krisanne Vaillancourt Murphy and Robb Davis.
