A Free Tool to Help You Think About AI

Published Date: September 2, 2025

“My congregation keeps asking me about AI, and honestly? I have no idea what to tell them. Should we be excited? Scared? I feel like I’m failing them.”

The sentiment of this Ohio pastor is ringing true for a lot of us.

Here’s what we’re seeing: AI is already in our churches. Pastors are using it for sermon prep. Parents are dealing with kids who have AI do their homework. Youth leaders are wondering if AI companions are replacing real relationships.

The questions aren’t hypothetical anymore. They’re sitting in our pews every Sunday.

So, we did something about it.

Asbury Seminary just finished a 13-part video series called “AI and the Church.” Every conversation is free. Every video is practical.

Here’s what we covered:

  • AI and Preaching — The role of AI in preaching
  • Drawing the Line with AI — To use or not to use AI, that is the question
  • AI, John Wesley, and Innovation — What our Methodist heritage teaches us about embracing change
  • Technology and Parenting — Helping families navigate this brave new world
  • The 4 C’s of AI — A simple framework for thinking through AI and change
  • Changing Economies in the Church — The social and technical changes impacting church

Plus seven more conversations that get into the weeds of what this all means for ministry.

Why did we create these videos?

Because the Church needs to lead on these issues, not just react to them.

These videos exist because alumni and friends like you have supported this work. Every conversation was recorded, edited, and made freely available because people believed this was important enough to fund.

The Church doesn’t need to be afraid of AI. But we do need to be thoughtful about it. Wise about it. Grounded in Scripture as we navigate it.

We pray this free, non-credit course is a blessing to you and your community.
