International Students

Asbury Seminary is committed to serving the global church. We celebrate our students, who represent over 21 different countries. The International Student Services Office has been created to address the needs of international students by providing hospitality, care and support. The Manager of International Services is the first contact for our international students in working on all visa-related matters. This office continues to be international students’ main point of contact throughout their time at Asbury Seminary in all visa-related issues.

More information is available for admitted international students via the Admissions Office.

International Hospitality

The Hospitality Ministry, along with a team of volunteers, prepares on-campus international homes for the arrival of international students. Through a special gift, the Seminary is able to offer several fully furnished (including washer/dryer) units on the Kentucky campus in Kalas Village. When an international student arrives, they walk into a furnished residence with a welcome basket containing supplies to assist with the transition in their first few days.

New Student Orientation

Asbury Theological Seminary offers a half-day International New Student Orientation prior to each semester’s New Student Orientation on the Kentucky campus. All international students are encouraged to attend the main New Student Orientation and the International Student Orientation. Key information about being a student and being an international student at Asbury Seminary is provided during these times.

Student Health Insurance

It is the expectation of Asbury Theological Seminary that all students who are enrolled at half-time status or greater will have, and keep active at all times while a student at the Seminary, adequate health insurance.
In accordance with the spirit of federal guidelines for certain Visa types, all students enrolled at Asbury Theological Seminary with citizenship other than the United States (referred to hereafter as an “international student”) are required to have health insurance coverage for themselves as well as all non-U.S. citizen dependents residing with them. All international students must provide a physical copy of their insurance plan’s certificate of benefits to the Office of Student Services no later than the add/drop deadline each semester. International students’ insurance must include coverage for medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. Insurance coverage must be in effect on the day of arrival in the United States and remain in effect for the entire time the student remains enrolled at Asbury Theological Seminary. Further details about the specific level of coverage required are available from the International Student Services Manager.
