Asbury Theological Seminary to Host the Green Collection!

Asbury Theological Seminary is hosting an exhibit from the Green Collection, Tuesday March 18 through Saturday March 22, 2014. The Green Collection is one of the largest private collections of rare biblical texts and artifacts in the world. Asbury Seminary is excited to offer this unique opportunity to the central Kentucky community. The exhibit will be housed in the B. L. Fisher Library on the Wilmore campus, only 12 miles from Lexington.
Highlights include:
• A leaf from the first bible printed in the Western Hemisphere (1663), translated into the Natick Native American dialect
• Gutenberg Bible leaf (1454)
• 14th  century Latin illuminated manuscript
• A leaf from the earliest nearly-complete manuscript of Psalms in the world, written in
Greek on papyrus (circa 3rd-4th Century AD)
• Coverdale Bible (1550)
• Cuneiform tablets dating to the time of Abraham
• Jewish Torah scroll
• Illuminated manuscripts

The exhibit is accompanied by experts from The Green Collection to help interpret the relevance of the artifacts and put them into historical context. Multi-media displays will further enrich the experience.
The exhibit is open to the public Tuesday from 10 am – 6 pm, and Wednesday – Saturday from 10 am – 8 pm and closed from 2-3 pm daily. Admission is free. Reservations are requested for groups of 10 or more. To make your group reservation, or with any questions, call

 Theory and Strategy for Changing Brain Pathways in Distressed Clients

Presentations by Gracia Levin and Michael Rogers

The morning session will be with Gracia Levin and will provide an overview of the theory of DBT, basic information regarding the neurobiology behind emotional reactions and strategies to provide the most effective change of dysfunctional behaviors in treatment.  The afternoon session will be with Michael Rogers and will explore how to integrate mindfulness into your practice. It is designed to provide you with specific resources and tools for working with Christian and non-Christian clients. If you are familiar with mindfulness, this seminar will enable you to refine and deepen your practice. If you are new to mindfulness, you will learn practical integrative methods you can use right away in your work with your clients. The speaker will utilize experiential exercises throughout the afternoon to enhance your learning.
