Chaplain Captain Robert W. Fry of the U.S. Army (1991, MDiv) was a recipient of the Witherspoon Award. The award was given in conjunction with the celebration of the 73rd Anniversary of National Bible Week. Each year the Witherspoon Award is given to three chaplains of the Armed Forces who demonstrate a unique commitment to Bible reading or encouraging Bible reading in a special way. The award is given to one chaplain from each of the branches of the Armed Forces (the Marines and Coast Guard are honored under the Navy branch). Chaplain Fry of the U.S. Army currently serves as Chaplain of the 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Infantry Division in Ft. Riley, Kansas. Chaplain Fry also serves as the Senior Pastor of the Morris Hill Gospel Congregation. He has spent the past thirty years in ministry, working as a youth pastor, camp counselor and director, urban missionary, and senior pastor and addiction-recovery chaplain. An article about him was featured on the front page of the 1st Infantry Division Post Newspaper.
