MINISTER OF MISSION AND DISCIPLESHIP AT TRINITY ON A HILL GLOBAL METHODIST CHURCH (AUGUSTA, GA)
DISCIPLESHIP. Primary Responsibility: To promote the first part of Trinity’s mission statement “To Know Christ…”
This is to be done by:
-
- Teaching, promoting, and growing Bible study an relationship opportunities for leaders & members of the congregation & community
- Resourcing adult Sunday School classes and adding classes when necessary
- Recruiting and training leaders for Sunday School and Bible Studies
- Overseeing the Forming of Trinity Tribes, Trinity’s geographically-based “Class Meetings”
- Utilizing various multi-media resources and equipping leaders to use these tools as a way to promote individual and group study options, i.e. RightNowMedia & YouVersion resources
- Providing oversight and support for the laity-led Discipleship Council, including oversight of the discipleship budget.
- Developing new short-term educational/community opportunities at least twice a year, offering a variety of topics to reach people at all levels of spiritual development at Trinity and in the community
- Serving alongside other Trinity ministry staff in developing curriculum that is multi-generational and strengthens individuals and families.
- Maintaining up-to-date resources for the Trinity library and resource center.
MISSIONS. Primary Responsibility: To promote the second part of Trinity’s mission statement “… and To Make Christ Known.”
This is to be done by:

- Providing oversight and support for the laity-led Missions Leadership Team made up of those who coordinate missions at the local and global levels
- Advancing opportunities for TOTH members to serve with our mission partners by providing ways to increase participation in mission projects
- Serving alongside Trinity ministry staff in developing a wide variety of mission opportunities for all ages
- Participating in mission projects locally and on teams nationally and internationally to promote sustainable relationships between mission partners and Trinity team members
- Leading the annual Trinity Missions Celebration to raise awareness of mission opportunities and grow the Missions budget through Faith Pledges
- Supervising the lay leadership in faithfully distributing funds from the Missions Faith Pledges in support of the Missions budget throughout the year

- Coordinating staff support for transient needs through the Trinity Missions Compassion ministry
- Communicating up-to-date information between the mission partners and the Trinity congregation
Skills and Abilities Required
In order to be effective in the above referenced responsibilities, this staff person is expected to:
- Be organized and multi-task oriented
- Be responsible for financial oversight of ministry area budgets
- Maintain personal international travel documents, i.e. passport.
- Be a team player with other members of the church ministry staff team
- Work well with volunteers
- Continue learning new models for mobilizing laity in discipleship and outreach opportunities.
- Represent excellence in Christian witness when working with other organizations in the community
- Write articles and reports important for ongoing communication with the congregation and staff
- Attend worship and church-wide meetings in support of Trinity’s mission
- Supervise administrative staff persons who may be assigned to their ministry areas in a way that promotes growth and collegial support

DIRECTOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AT ST. JOHN’S METHODIST CHURCH (AIKEN, SC)
Job Title: Director of Christian Education and Children’s Ministries
Department: Administration
Reports To: Associate Minister for Missions, Evangelism, and Young Adult Ministries
Summary: Responsible for the overall Christian Education Program of the church and the Christian nurture of our children aged infant to sixth grade
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Christian Education:
- Coordinate, plan, implement, and supervise the overall Christian Education and Spiritual Formation programs of the church
- Suggest and provide resources, and order materials for the St. John’s program of Christian Education
- Recruit, train, and nurture Sunday School teachers
- Work with Associate Minister for Missions, Evangelism, and Young Adult Ministries to meet the specific needs of Young Adults
- Work with the Senior Adult Council to support and facilitate older adult ministries
Children’s Ministry:
- Give direct attention to Children’s Ministries
- Coordinate with the Children’s Council and Church Council to develop and implement annual goals, budget, and ministries for children
- Work with the Children’s Council to plan and implement programs involving children and their families
- Encourage others to be in ministry with children
- Recruit, train, enable, and provide resources for teachers and other leaders of children’s ministry activities such as Vacation Bible School, The Grove, Sunday School, Children’s Church, and others as needed
- Ensure all resources foster strong families and faith formation in children
- Coordinate with Youth Director to develop and maintain a “feeder” program for 5th and 6th grade children
- Supervise the nursery staff to ensure quality preschool childcare on Sunday morning and for church events that require such care
- Assist with the coordination of space and resources with the Pre-School/Kindergarten and Children’s choirs for all weekday programs
- Ensure our facilities and procedures provide a “safe sanctuary” for our children and that St John’s Safe Sanctuary Policy is current and adhered to in all children’s programs and ministries
- Assist with the administrative duties of the programs including communication with members, production of newsletters, reservations, web page information and other items as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
- Nurture personal spirituality through prayer, Bible Study, accountability of other believers, personal retreat, and worship
- Continue learning and growing in the Christian faith and take advantage of opportunities to enhance the ministries at St John’s
- Attend weekly staff meetings unless absence is approved by your supervisor
- Maintain a positive culture and team spirit among the St. John’s staff by modeling the core values of the church and supporting the Senior Minister’s vision for the church
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Minister for Missions, Evangelism, and Young Adult Ministries
Required Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are Monday and Tuesday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 60-minute lunch break both day; Wednesday: 10:30 am to 6:30 pm with a 60-minute lunch break; Thursday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 60 minute lunch break; Sunday: 8:30 am to 12:30 and 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm (usually a once-a-month children’s activity night, or can be as determined by the Director). Additional hours with any exempt salaried job, may be required, and do not result in any compensatory time off or extra compensation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities for the Nursery Staff.

This position involves woodworking, prepping, painting, and shipping skills. No experience is required, but preferable. We will teach you how to do your job. We are looking for a person who can learn high quality woodworking and finishing skills and will take pride in their work.
