As an independent, international organization, we have worldwide reach and impact, with over six million users of our free web articles, podcasts, Bible and small group studies, individual devotions, social media and other resources each year. We are on a rapid growth trajectory, including translations into English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian and Korean. Recent fundraising successes have enabled us to launch a pastor-training program with cohorts in 11 cities across the US. We are a not-for-profit 501(c)3 with directors, editors, contributors and advisors from around the world, supported primarily by foundations and individual donors. We are on a significant growth trajectory, with annual operations nearing $1,000,000 in 2025, up from about $400,000 in 2022. The Director will lead us in creating an organizational capability to identify, engage, develop, and grow relationships with donors/grantors (across the USA) and missional partners (with a focus on the Pacific Northwest). WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Culture: Small team of committed Christians dedicated to supporting each other through prayer, excellence at work, and Christian ethics. All are primarily work-from-home.
  • Support: Leadership team is highly supportive of fundraising efforts and willing to be involved. Additionally, willing to invest in training, coaching, and support.
  • Position Location: US Pacific Northwest. Work-from-home, except for frequent visits to potential donors (nationwide) and partners (mostly PNW) and occasional TOW Project staff or board meetings (Boston or other locations).
  • Travel: As needed within North America. Anticipate two to three trips averaging 1 to 3 nights per month, plus day travel to PNW partners. The TOW Project pays all travel. Theology of Work Project Director of Development – April 2025

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a multi-year strategic fundraising plan to identify and cultivate donors from internal and external constituencies, building upon the current donor base to create new giving and partnership opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to establish and build relationships to work effectively with top donors and volunteers and develop fund raising programs utilizing Board members, staff and volunteers in key roles.
  • Actively participate as a member of TOW Project’s Strategic Leadership Team, setting direction and goals together.
  • Develop and steward a portfolio of major gift relationships.
  • Progressively ramp up annual major gifts by at least $250,000 within 4 years of start.
  • Initiate at least 2 significant missional partnerships in the Pacific Northwest, building on groundwork already in progress with several potential partners or with new partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a professional with at least 5 years proven excellence and quantifiable performance in:

  • Increasing multi-year major donor revenue at non-profits, preferably Christian ones.
  • Managing and implementing successful, comprehensive fund development programs and preparing an annual development plan to achieve goals.
