Seedbed – July 2014

Published Date: June 20, 2014

From the start, one of our major goals at Seedbed has been to create valuable ministry resources that resonate with the Wesleyan theological vision. Initially, this meant partnering with authors to produce topical books and studies that were valuable for discussion and community building, but to-date, none of these resources have been strictly focused on Bible Study in a group setting.

That’s all about to change.

This fall and early spring will see the release of three major Seedbed study curricula ideal for Sunday School classes, weekly small groups, and/or church-wide studies. We’re excited to share these first and foremost with the ATS community.

OneBook-GospelofMark

OneBook

When it comes to major biblical teaching, the church lacks an intentionally Wesleyan resource. Sure, there are some options out there, but since the most popular studies have been around for over 25 years, they’ve likely already made the rounds in your church community. It’s time for something new and fresh that doesn’t compromise depth and quality, which is why OneBook is the bible study you’ve been waiting for.

In its entirety, The OneBook Whole Bible study is a seven-year deep dive into the heart of scripture. Each annual lesson plan is broken down into 32-week chunks of video and workbook teaching material, each focusing comprehensively on different areas of scripture.

Seedbed has recruited some of the Asbury Theological Seminary’s most respected professors to create the content for these  studies. Our Fall release, The Gospel of Mark, will be taught by Dr. Joseph Dongell. It will be followed closely by our spring release, Invitation to the Bible, which will be taught by Dr. Brian Russell.

EpicofEden-250x300Epic of Eden

Our knowledge of the Old Testament can feel like a grab bag of people, books, events and ideas. In The Epic of Eden, Dr. Sandra Richter brilliantly communicates a history of God’s redeeming grace, weaving together a story that runs from the Garden of Eden to the garden of the New Jerusalem.

Through workbook and video teaching, Dr. Richter brings a fresh understanding to the history of the ancient Near East, orienting participants in time, geography, culture, redemption, and relevance to life — all while building the faith of the church without “dumbing down” the scripture. The Epic of Eden video study is ideal for church groups wanting a meaty study of THE biblical text, as well as anyone eager for a strategic grasp of the dramatic, sweeping story of the Old Testament and how it relates to God’s activity in the present.

Encounter the SpiritEncounter the Spirit

Encounter the Spirit is the second release of Seedbed’s Encounter Series by Carolyn Moore, which will consist of three separate eight-week Bible studies and videos that teach and encourage a daily walk with the Trinity.

The first of the series, Encounter Jesus, was released in 2013 and explores eight passages from across the four gospels, each highlighting a key facet of Jesus’s life and work. This fall will see the release of Encounter the Spirit, a continuation of the series in which Moore explores the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The final study, Encounter the Father, will be released in late 2015.

Each of the studies from the Encounter Series is an outstanding resource for personal, small group, or church-wide use. Stay tuned for more information and order details as we approach our spring release date for Encounter the Spirit.
