Dr. Russell Hall

Associate Professor of Counselor Education

Russell Hall, Ph.D., is Professor of Counselor Education in the Department of Counseling and Pastoral Care.  Dr. Hall is a licensed psychologist and a Health Service Provider/Supervisor for the Kentucky Board of Psychology.  Before Asbury Seminary, Dr. Hall worked in clinical practice providing psychological testing and therapeutic services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Dr. Hall became Director of Training in the Department of Counseling and Pastoral Care at Asbury Seminary in 2011.  In addition to administrating the field placement program, Dr. Hall expanded the department’s expertise and student training opportunities in child pathology and counseling.

In 2017, Dr. Hall co-founded the Van Tatenhove Center for Counseling, a training clinic that provides counseling services to the Asbury Seminary community.  Dr. Hall shares responsibilities in the oversight of clinic operations and supervision.

Dr. Hall received a faculty appointment at Asbury Seminary in 2021 and continues to prepare students to integrate professional counseling and the practice of the Christian faith.

In addition to his work at Asbury Seminary, Dr. Hall maintains a small private practice.

Russell is married to Melodie (McCart) Hall, and they have two grown children.
