The Asbury Project

Dear Asbury Theological Seminary Alumnus (Marketplace Influencer, Community Member or Ministry Leader):

Many people spend most of their time in the marketplace, yet this arena remains insulated from Christian influence. Even as the majority of people in the church spend most of their time in the marketplace, there is often a disconnect of discipleship from everyday life-including work.

Asbury Theological Seminary’s Office of Faith, Work and Economics in conjunction with the Howard Dayton School of Business at Asbury University, invites you to attend The Asbury Project, a free conference on faith in the marketplace on April 19-20, 2016 at Asbury Seminary’s Florida Dunnam Campus, 8401 Valencia College Lane, Orlando FL 32825.

Join us for two impactful days of dialogue and interaction with local and national pastors, business and community leaders, academicians, and entrepreneurs who will share innovative approaches in business as mission, community transformation through collaboration, and transforming your ordinary work day into an extraordinary calling.

We hope that you will participate in The Asbury Project and/or have your business/organization represented at this event to provide attendees with information about your products or services through our vendor exhibit.

The Office of Faith, Work and Economics seeks to equip pastors, ministry leaders and laity to integrate the witness of Christian faith into the marketplace. Renewal Retreat

Join us on the Wilmore, Kentucky campus for a Renewal Retreat! Renewal Retreats are individual, personalized retreats tailored around your chosen intention (needs and longings) for getting away.  For each retreat we thoughtfully draw from the formation-rich environment of the Asbury Seminary community and craft personalized days to move you slowly through formative experiences aimed toward your intention for the retreat.  Most retreats begin with a professional massage as well as a conversation with a personal trainer to discuss health and choose a gentle way to engage the body during the retreat.  The other elements of your retreat are chosen to fit your request.  These might include a conversation with faculty around scripture, discerning prayer times, thoughtful leadership advice, sharing in the Eucharist and participating in chapel, fasting in solitude or delving into study.  The cost of renewal retreats varies dependent on length of stay and activities in which you participate.

If you are interested in participating in this form of retreat, feel free to contact

Peg Hutchins, the Director of Community Formation, at (859) 858-2242

Alumni Trip to Ireland (and Scotland)! LAST CALL!!!

Celtic Christians spoke of “Thin Places”, to refer to places where the veil between this world and the Other is almost transparent–and where God’s presence is practically palpable.  Ireland is rich with such sites:  mountain tops, oak groves, rippling streams, holy wells, burial places of ancestors, boundaries between sea and shore, sky and land… and, if you are very still and quiet, sometimes you can almost hear the beat of angel wings!
The beauty of the land is only one part.  Then there are the places of saints, of Brendan, Patrick, Bridget, and Kevin, and that is just the beginning.  Walk among the ruins of their monasteries and churches, climb up into an ancient bell tower and survey a landscape they would have known, or sip from a well one of them blessed.  Walk a well-worn path and you almost glimpse one of these sacred companions disappear just around a bend in the trail ahead.
Come, join our pilgrimage home!

The Annual Conference Alumni Gathering list would be more useful if the Annual Conference associated with each contact name was provided.
