Welcoming Back Another Semester and New Theme

Published Date: August 5, 2021

Here we are again, ready to welcome new students to our campus and to say “hello, again” to those who are returning. We are so excited to be back in person this fall and back to “normal.”

As of July 2, 2021, the seminary released this statement regarding this upcoming school year:

“As of the beginning of the summer term, Asbury Theological Seminary is joyful to announce that all operations have returned to normal now that all COVID-related government restrictions are over for our Wilmore campus.

In the midst of an unprecedented year of adjustments for a global pandemic, we would like to thank all our students, faculty, staff, administrators, volunteers, alumni, and friends for their steadfast support and flexibility to help us all get through this time together. We are grateful to continue serving to train Spirit-filled men and women to bring the whole Bible to the whole world for the glory of God!

We are looking forward to welcoming students back in the fall with a much more normal academic year ahead.”

There’s nothing quite like the excitement that comes with looking forward to worshipping collectively again and being in community that is so valuable.

The theme for this upcoming academic year is “Life of Servanthood.” Being a servant of Jesus is a humbling, yet challenging experience, but understanding servanthood is crucial to understanding how the Lord is calling each one of us.

Here’s a preview of the focuses:

  • Christ’s Identity as Servant
  • Finding Our Identity as Servants in Christ
  • Whom Do We Serve?
  • Servant leadership
  • Inward Shape of the Servant
  • Outward Actions of the Servant
  • Corporate Dynamics of Servant Leadership in Community
  • The Whole Bible for the Whole World

Our verse for this upcoming year is Mark 10: 42-45:

“Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Will you join us in prayer for this upcoming school year? Let us band together in prayer for the Lord to work in our hearts, the hearts of the faculty, staff, students, and family members, so that we may truly understand what it means to be a servant of Christ.
