What’s New at Asbury Church Planting?
Stories of Church Multiplication
The Center for Church Multiplication (CCM) supports church multiplication throughout the U.S. through funding, coaching, and prayer. We asked our grant recipients about their love for church planting, opportunities in church planting, and how they connect with their communities. Hear Erin’s story in this video:
Church Multiplication Principles
The Center for Church Multiplication sponsors Global Gatherings around the world where church planters share ideas and learn from each other. Each month, we highlight a church multiplication principle we heard at a Global Gathering or from a church planting team in the U.S. Here’s this month’s principle:
Keep Learning. It’s important for church planters to participate in learning communities and networks so that they can keep learning new ways that God is building his church in diverse contexts around the world. One way God is expanding his church today is through Disciple Making Movements. The core affirmations of Disciple Making Movements (DMM) are summarized in the recently released statement, Reactivating the Church as Movement published by the Motus Dei network. This statement is a short but powerful call for the church to return to its movemental roots—simple, multiplying, disciple-making communities that embody Jesus’ mission in every place.

CCM Resource Recommendation
Last month, Dr. Bruce Wilson sat down with Dr. Wes Watkins for a conversation about the expansion of Christ’s church in organic, movemental ways all over the world. In a nutshell, we talked about Movemental Ecclesiology and Disciple Making Movements.
Dr. Wes Watkins is a leading authority on Movemental Ecclesiology. As a missiologist with One Collective, Wes facilitates the Motus Dei Network and is a researcher at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. He’s been a professor at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and is one of the authors, along with Alan Hirsch, Dr. David Garisson, Aila Tasse, and others, of the global statement titled “Reactivating the Church as Movement.”
Bruce and Wes recorded a podcast on movemental ecclesiology, which you can click on below or find on our website as the S5E2 podcast: https://asburychurchplanting.
