100 Million Dollar Campaign Goes Public!

Greetings! Asbury is in a wonderful season of God’s blessings. God continues to send us men and women to train and form for ministry. Last Fall, we received the largest incoming class in our history! I suspect this Fall will be another great year. This is a sacred trust as we train and form a whole new generation of leaders. While the MDiv degree continues to be our strongest degree, we are now seeing significant growth in our redesigned DMin program. Our DMin program is built around a cohort model, which creates micro-communities of students all moving together through the curriculum. If you have an interest in improving your leadership skills, preaching abilities, marketplace ministry, or want to learn more about church planting and re-missionizing existing churches, you should prayerfully consider joining this amazing program of community-based applied learning.

Asbury has continued its new emphasis on training church planters. Our church planting program has now become the largest MA degree at Asbury. We are also forming training hubs around the country which will allow us to bring field based church planting training to most regions of the country. This will not be a degree program, but a training certificate which will allow us to train a thousand new church planters by the year 2025. Asbury is also welcoming a number of new faculty: Paul Chilcote in theology, Jonathan Powers in worship (Bill Goold retired), Samantha Kim in missiology (new position), Michael Voigts in spiritual formation (Reg Johnson retired) and Phil Meadows in church planting (new position). We are so thankful for this new generation of teachers and trainers for Asbury!

Our Seedbed resourcing platform (www.seedbed.com), as well as the New Room network continues to grow and flourish. We had over 1,500 people at our national New Room Conference and some wonderful regional gatherings around the country. We are all “sowing for a great awakening!”

For the last few years we have been in the “silent” phase of our comprehensive campaign here at Asbury. We have already raised over 65 million in this phase! Praise the Lord! This Fall we are launching the “public” phase of this 100 million dollar campaign. 50 million dollars of the campaign is for student scholarships. The remaining part of the campaign is focused on strengthening our strategic initiatives such as church planting, Seedbed, a new theology professor for our Florida Dunnam campus, and so forth. Your Alumni Council has adopted the renovation of Estes Chapel as the “alumni” part of the campaign. This will require over a million dollars, but we have a donor (yes, one of our Asbury alumni) who has put up a half million dollar matching gift towards this project. We are so excited to see this sacred space restored! Please consider making a special gift for the renovation of Estes Chapel! If you would like to give now, please follow this link. Part of the upgrades will be technology so that we will be able to live stream chapel to all 10,000 of our graduates!

Finally, let me say that the most important priorities for our Asbury graduates are remaining faithful to the Word of God, promoting truth in a post-truth culture, and bringing glory to the Triune God though word and deed. Your faithfulness in the gospel is what brings us our greatest joy. We want you to know that your seminary stands with you!
