Alumni Career Opportunities – Federal Prison Chaplaincy
Published Date: November 1, 2016
My name is Will Hoyle and I am an Asbury Alumni from the class of 1997. I have been in full time Federal Prison Chaplaincy for the last 10 years. I regret that during my seminary education I did not look at all the avenues for ministry and that is was kind of “assumed” most would go into local church ministry. I think seminaries as a whole with the changing American landscape are becoming more open to new forms of ministry outside the local church. I wanted to pass on the most recent recruitment materials from the Central Office in Washington D.C. of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Locations are all over the country as on the first brochure. The Federal Correctional Complex Chaplains of Butner, N.C. are featured on the brochure.
Please forward this to District Superintendents or others mentoring persons called to ministry that meet the guidelines who may be looking for alternative appointments or types of ministry.
U.M.E.A. The United Methodist Endorsing Agency is proud that the Chief Chaplain of the nationwide network of multi-faith chapels in the Federal Bureau of Prisons is an ordained United Methodist Elder – Chaplain Heidi Kugler! And so are the endorsed community of United Methodists serving in Federal Prison Chaplaincy. For more information, check out this link: https://www.bop.gov/jobs/positions/index.jsp?p=Chaplain
