Facilitating a confirmation class is a difficult endeavor. The Christian Faith can be complex, and this causes many young adults to have many questions. Dr. Phil Talon (PhD, St. Andrews) responds to the challenge with his confirmation guide, The Absolute Basics of the Christian Faith. Dr. Talon structures his guide around 12 essential doctrines of the faith, and couples each doctrine with some rhetorical questions for elaboration and discussion . Essential Bible Verses and Church Creeds are scattered throughout the pages, along with expressive artwork from artist Andrew Chandler. The reader is even privileged to discover a notes section corresponding to each chapter, bolstered with information gleamed from key theologians such as Jerome, Athanasius, Augustine, and C.S. Lewis. Dr. Talon’s confirmation resource provides a multi-faceted, contemporary approach to enlighten young adults on the complex doctrines through clear language, contemporary parables, and pure reason.
Dr. Phil Tallon has a Masters of Divinity and a Master of Theological Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary. He received his Ph.D in Theology from the University of Saint Andrews. Currently, Dr. Tallon is an Assitant Professor of Theology at Houston Baptist University, where he teaches in the Honors College and the Apologetics Department.
