Reformation For Our 95 Theses Today

The Tennessee Conference is hosting a conference featuring Rev. Dr. Justo Gonzalez.  It’s going to be an amazing opportunity for folks to hear from Dr. Gonzalez as he turns 80 and as we face the 500th anniversary of the Reformation (just a couple weeks after the conference). It’s also special because the conference will be primarily in English! All the information can be found here.

Convergence Conference

Join us in Wilmore for our second annual Convergence Conference on Novemeber 7-8! The Convergence is an annual two-day gathering at Asbury designed to help church leaders recover ancient pathways for formation and mission in contemporary ministry by bringing together Scripture, Spirit and Sacrament. This year, our keynote speakers are Glenn Packiam of New Life Downtown (Colorado Springs) and Jessica LaGrone, our very own Dean of Chapel. During our time, we will worship corporately in liturgical chapel services and also explore topics such as “The Power of Liturgy,” “Sacramental Preaching,” “Sacramental Mission,” “21st Century Catechesis” and more. We believe that by exploring the historic practices of the church, we can bring new life and substance to the leaders of our day and we would be delighted if you joined with us for this incredible opportunity! To register or to find out more information on the conference and also a special pre-conference event hosted by the Ancient-Future Faith Network, convergenceasbury.com.

Equipping Lydia

In June, Equipping Lydia shared the exciting news we will be offering individual and group spiritual direction appointments in Orlando, Florida.  Through our connection with Asbury Theological Seminary, we will be using the Shalom Shabbat Room at the Asbury Theological Seminary-Florida Dunnam Campus.  Laura Baber has individual appointments on October 10 and November 14.  Group Spiritual Direction will be offered from 3:00-5:00pm on each of those dates as well.  Those seeking spiritual direction or whom have any questions to email Sandra at scheduling@equippinglydia.org.  We look forward to joining with more ATS alumni as they explore the sacred rhythms along their spiritual formation journey with Christ.

The Problem of Wineskins

The 40th anniversary edition of alum Howard Snyder’s The Problem of Wineskins: Church Structure in a Technological Age has just been published by Seedbed Publishing.  The new edition is essentially the same as the 1975 one, except that he added a new Foreword and Afterword reflecting now on what he wrote then, in light of today’s realities. I also include 24 “Wineskins Stories” by people who were strongly impacted by the original edition. He is pleased with the interesting comments by Asbury Seminary President Timothy Tennent and those of Canadian Ross Rains (of Pathfinders Fellowship), among others. The original 1975 edition was published by InterVarsity and went through multiple printings and translations into other languages.
