Job Description

The youth pastor will:
• Lead and guide the church’s middle and high school students.
• Strive to disciple students for spiritual transformation.
• Attend student functions at school and home events every week.
• Grow relationships with the education community and provide students and their families with biblical leadership.
• Develop a student ministry council with adult leaders that are to be trained by the youth pastor.
• Create a student ministry council that is to be used to help students have greater buy-in.

To be successful in this position, he/she will need to provide for an inviting and safe environment for teens, be able to take direction from the church leadership, and be passionate about reaching and transforming students for Christ.

The Qualifications

We are seeking an individual with a strong Biblical foundation who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The youth pastor must be able to teach biblical values and truths of the Bible, align curriculum for all students, and in doing so, actively encourage spiritual growth with the goal of developing life-long faith in Christ. College degree preferred in youth ministries or Biblical studies with a willingness to embrace Reformed theology.

This will be done through nurturing collaboration among neighborhood-based cohorts of churches, organizing and facilitating the Durham Pilgrimage of Pain and Hope, building community among Pilgrimage alumni, shepherding congregations as they seek deeper roots and healthy engagement in Durham, and fundraising to sustain each of the program areas.
