Mourning the Sudden Passing of Lacey Craig

Published Date: August 2, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we share that our beloved sister, Lacey Craig, has passed away following a brief battle with Stage 4 ovarian cancer. As a part of the Lifelong Learning team, Lacey devoted herself to the Doctor of Ministry program, its faculty, and its students.

Dr. Ellen Marmon, former Director of the DMin program, says of Lacey, “I’ve never known anyone more committed to excellence because what we did as a team was a ministry. She kept the students at the forefront of everything she did and her desire to honor God in the process.”

Dr. David Gyertson, Interim President of Asbury Seminary, says of Lacey, “Lacey’s diligent and dedicated ministry to our Doctor of Ministry program and students provided the framework that allowed God to bless and multiply the Seminary’s success.”

Lacey was a beloved wife to Erick, an attentive and loving daughter, and a wonderful member of our Asbury Seminary community. It was evident to all who knew her that she loved Jesus deeply, as well as Asbury Seminary and its work to “bring the whole Bible to the whole world.” We will mourn our sister greatly while knowing that to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.

We ask for your prayers for her family, especially for her husband Erick.

My heart breaks over this news! When I was in the D. Min. program she was so helpful, grace filled, and joyful! I’m not sure I would have made it across the finish line without her help and encouragement. Her family will be in my prayers.
