Susanna Wesley Dolls are Here! (Plus a Bonus Surprise)

Published Date: October 2, 2017

Several years ago, Asbury Theological Seminary revealed their first shipment of John Wesley plush dolls. People requested them so frequently, they were flying out of their boxes! We even published an entire calendar featuring all the places and ministry contexts our John Wesley dolls found themselves in. We had such an incredible response to these popular dolls, that we later created a companion Charles Wesley plush doll that plays “And Can it Be” when you squeeze his tummy. In similar fashion, we had an outpouring of support. We still have people contact us regularly to find out how they can get their own Charles Wesley doll. However, we had some of our dear Asburians express that there was something missing…and we heard you!

We have needed representation for our women, and we sought not just any figure of a strong woman of faith. We have created a Susanna Wesley doll to capture the deepest roots of where Wesleyanism really started. It started with the instruction in life and faith that was passed down to John and Charles by their mother, Susanna. We would not have the Wesleyan roots we cherish today without her! With all our tireless and fearless women in ministry in mind, we present our third doll in our Wesley doll series.

But wait! That’s not all! We have also been working diligently in the background on a project that is going to get you even more excited! We are currently collecting funds to create the first ever Asbury Hymnal! This was originally a $40,000 investment. But, due to the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Tennent, each gift will be matched by them personally, cutting our funding need in half! And here is the exciting part: you can get one of your very own, signed by Dr. and Mrs. Tennent! For a donation of $100 or more, we will send you a signed thank-you copy once the hymnals are printed.

Also, in honor of our largest incoming class of women this year, we wish to extend an opportunity to all of you. For any donation of $25 or more to our Asbury Hymnal Project, we will send you one of our exclusive Susanna Wesley dolls. If you wish to donate in honor of a strong woman of faith, who has been a leader in your life, we will be happy to send a gift doll to her instead, including a note of thanks for her contribution to the kingdom of God. Simply include her name and address with your donation, and any instructions you wish to leave for the note. These hymnals will be used in all our chapels, so your donation to our Asbury Hymnal Project will be an affordable and incredible way to leave a lasting legacy in honor of those who have most impacted your life! It is also a fantastic way to encourage a woman on the front lines of ministry.

In the online donation page, designate your gift as “Estes Chapel” and let us know  in the comments section.

    To whom it may concern
We are a Methodist School in the UK, Farringtons School in Kent.

We would very much like to donate/purchase 2 of your John Wesley dolls, 2 of Susannah Wesley dolls and a Charles Wesley too!

Please let me know if available. Our School Chaplain is leaving us at the end of this school year, beginning of July, and we would love to be able to give her a leaving present of the John and Susannah dolls.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kindest regards

        Hello Patricia!
I live in England but would dearly love a Charles Wesley plush doll! He’d be in very good company over here, alongside my dolls of King George III, General Cornwallis…and er, George Washington! Please tell me how I can obtain one! I did email you but not sure if you received it or not.
