ATS ALUM AND HIS DAUGHTER REFLECT ON A MEANINGFUL PSALM IN A RECENT PUBLICATION
Rev. Denman Jones (M.Div. ’70), recently published All This Stuff About Sheep: Reflections on the 23rd Psalm with his daughter, Diane. Here is the description:
A sermon series taking the beloved passage of Psalm 23 verse by verse was a favorite, both for The Reverend Denman Jones, as well as his congregations through the years. He explored what each verse meant from the perspective of a sheep, delving into its relationship with its shepherd. One of his daughters compiled the series, with reflections on how revisiting the Lord as her Shepherd helped her through a difficult time in her life. Verse by verse, the Psalm is rich in so many truths that speak to so many circumstances and experiences of our lives, and they both hope to bring fresh encouragement through this publication.

JOIN A THOUGHT-PROVOKING, EDUCATIONAL FACEBOOK GROUP!

ATS professors Dr. John Cook and Dr. Fred Long have just launched a new Facebook group: Asbury Biblical Interpretation Discussion Group.
They will post regularly on the interpretation of texts (the previous week’s lectionary readings). Others are free to post, ask questions, etc.

Here is the expressed purpose statement of the group:

The purpose of Asbury Biblical Interpretation Discussion Group (ABIDG) is to create a hospitable space for the discussion and interpretation of Scripture within the Wesleyan Theological Tradition. As such, the posts may relate to any aspect of the interpretation, exposition, and application of Scripture in today’s world. Priorities of interpretation include 1) the literary and canonical contexts; 2) the meaning of the underlying original languages; 3) the relevant social-historical backgrounds; 4) the correlations and evaluations with other passages of Scripture; 5) biblical theological implications and explorations; and 6) the careful consideration of suitable areas of application in our respective contexts today.
