What’s Happening in the Church Planting Institute?

Published Date: May 4, 2021

The ‘Herd Immunity’ of Christian Community
Learning Lab Webinar
May 26, 2021 @ 3p ET

This month we will be joined by Dr. Philip Meadows, the Sundo Kim Professor of Evangelism here at Asbury Seminary.

We will explore how small communities of disciples can resist the virulent infections of this world, while living fearlessly on mission within it, through radical commitment to Jesus and one another. Lethal viruses are one thing, but there have always been, and always will be, more lethal contagions in circulation: the powers of sin, darkness and death. What lessons can be learned from the pandemic about the intentional pursuit of discipleship when it is all over? And how does the Gospel really become more contagious than Covid 19?!

We are excited to partner with leaders and entrepreneurs who are engaging in new, innovative approaches to church planting in the 21st century. Each year, qualified planters are selected to be a part of our Fellowship Program. Fellows participate in a one-year cohort with other planters from a variety of contexts and backgrounds. They also receive grant funding of up to $5,000, enjoy free resources, and receive regular coaching calls from an expert in a contextually appropriate area. If you are in the first 1-3 years of planting a new church, then we invite you to apply for our next cohort beginning in Summer 2021.

Have you ever felt called to start a new church that takes seriously both the call to Gospel faithfulness and the Biblical message of racial reconciliation? Such a call is as terrifying as it is exciting, but with prayer and the right training, that vision can become a reality. We have crafted the Multiethnic Church Planting Institute to help prepare women and men to answer their call and start innovative and thriving communities of faith that bridge historical divides and embody the unity we have in Christ. This hybrid Institute blends video content and live-virtual sessions to create an effective but flexible training experience for ministry.

If you have ever felt this call to church planting and are interested in participating in this training, please complete the interest form and we will follow-up with all information regarding official registration for the event.

NEW BOOK FROM DR. WINFIELD BEVINS

Our Director, Winfield, recently co-authored a new book with his friend Mark Dunwoody called Healthy Rhythms for Leaders which is written to help Christian leaders care for their souls in today’s chaotic and uncertain world. Walk away with these personal and leadership rhythms, but also learn how to share these practices and principles with the churches and organizations you serve.
