Data Release Consent
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records. This law allows the school to release directory information such as student's name, date of birth, dates of attendance, etc. Student consent is required prior to sharing additional data with outside entities, including potential scholarship donors. Many donors ask for specific information such as program degree, registered and cumulative hours, GPA, vocational goal, ethnicity, denomination and conference affiliation.
