Global Student Life and Formation

EXPERIENCE COMMUNITY. EXPERIENCE FORMATION. EXPERIENCE ASBURY.

Our Team

The Global Student Life and Formation team consists of four staff members, five chaplains, and a student worker. Our team’s mission is to offer non-residential students opportunities for spiritual formation and to facilitate a sense of belonging to the greater Asbury community. The sections below provide additional information about the different ways we seek to connect meaningfully with our students and their families.

Pastoral Care

The Asbury Global pastoral care team is available as needed and serves in a variety of capacities. These include making referrals to appropriate resources for counseling and professional coaching when requested, offering pastoral care calls, and supporting you throughout your time at Asbury. Communication with the pastoral care team will most often take place through email, phone calls, or Zoom meetings. Please complete this form if you would like to request pastoral care.

Global Connection Zoom Meetings

For all non-residential hybrid and online students, we offer monthly Zoom gatherings where students can connect with the Asbury GSLF Team and other global students. The purpose of these gatherings is to provide a space for students to ask questions, provide feedback, learn about our resources, and receive the most recent updates. These are also opportunities for students to pray with one another and form discipleship groups.

If you are interested in participated in these gatherings, you can save the event to your Asbury Google Calendar. This will require you to login to your account. If you have not already done so and enter your seminary email address and password. Once you are signed in, you can add the event to your Asbury Google Calendar. Be sure to click “Save.”

This is a recurring event, and saving it to your calendar will help you keep the dates and the Zoom link handy. The event also includes a number of automatically generated email notifications to remind you when to join us each month. If at any point you would like to remove this recurring event from your calendar, simply click on the next instance of the event in your calendar and then click on the trash can icon. This will give you the option to delete that particular instance of the event or to delete all instances.

Prayer

Prayer is a vital part of our life in Christ. Our team wants you to know that we are available to pray with you and for you. Please fill out this form, and one of our team members will reach out to you by email or by phone. Please note that discretion is a priority for us. You can indicate in the form whether you would like us to share your prayer request with the entire prayer team or just with our director and associate directors.

Extension Sites

At our extension sites, we coordinate chapel services for each hybrid course and provide a fellowship lunch following chapel. We staff these chapels with local preachers and worship leaders, as well as with our own professors and staff members. Our global site chaplains provide a pastoral presence for global students. There is one chaplain per site, and each chaplain is available to students primarily on chapel day to facilitate worship, coordinate hospitality, and host fellowship time. Each chaplain is also available to pray with students and offer formation-related resources.

Wilmore Hospitality

Many of our hybrid courses are offered at the Kentucky campus in Wilmore. The Asbury Global Student Life and Formation team provides snack breaks and community dinners during the three highest volume hybrid weeks of the Fall and Spring semesters. We also offer welcome bags to all hybrid students visiting Wilmore. We encourage students to stop by our offices on the first floor of the Cowen Building.
