Dr. R. Stephen Gober

Executive Director of Academic Affairs, Asbury Latino Center

Steve earned both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees at Asbury
Theological Seminary. He later completed a PhD in Theology at Nazarene Theological
College in Manchester, England. His research focuses on how student formation can
best be cultivated among distance learners, particularly Hispanic and other minority
students. His recent work, Faith Formation of US Hispanic Post-traditional Seminarians,
explores these themes in depth.

Since 2010, Steve has served in multiple roles at Asbury Seminary. Before joining the
seminary, he and his wife, Karoline, ministered for seventeen years in Costa Rica with
the Evangelical Methodist Church, where he worked primarily as a professor and
administrator at the Evangelical Methodist Seminary.

Steve is deeply committed to promoting spiritual transformation and renewal in lives of
persons and the local church. He believes holistic faith formation and leadership
development are essential to this mission. Outside of his professional work, Steve
enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, kayaking, being outdoors, and
helping others engage with God’s global mission.
