Dr. R. Stephen Gober

Executive Director of Academic Affairs, Asbury Latino Center

Dr. Steve Gober earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees at Asbury Theological Seminary. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at Nazarene Theological College in Manchester, England. He is especially interested in how student formation is best pursued among students studying from a distance, especially Hispanic and other minority students. His research thesis title is “Faith Formation of US Hispanic Post-traditional Seminarians.”

Steve has served in various roles at Asbury Seminary since May 2010. Prior to joining the Seminary team, Steve and his wife Karoline ministered for 17 years as missionaries with the Evangelical Methodist Church of Costa Rica. Steve worked primarily with the Evangelical Methodist Seminary as a professor, an administrator, and, during the last eight years of his tenure, as President of the Seminary.

Steve is committed to promoting spiritual transformation and renewal in the life of individual persons and the local church. He believes that holistic faith formation and leadership development are key elements to achieving both of these goals. He enjoys time with his family, watching movies, kayaking, being outdoors and connecting other people to God’s global mission.
