Managing Student Loan Debt

Students are encouraged to seek opportunities of support through their local church, denomination, conference, and other networks prior to borrowing student loans.

However, if loans are utilized for educational purposes we encourage students to review their personal budget to avoid borrowing in excess. Remember that acquiring excessive student loan debt can prevent you from pursuing ministry options that would otherwise be available to you.

Estimated Loan Debt Upon Graduation

For the 2021-2022 award year, 29% of students borrowed federal student loans at Asbury Seminary. While students have the ability to borrow up to $20,500 per year, the average amount borrowed during this period was $10,727. If you will be utilizing federal student loan funds and wish to obtain an estimated loan debt upon graduation, simply multiply either of these amounts by the number of years required for your program of study.
