Dr. David Watson: Together in Mission

Published Date: February 2, 2026

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am grateful for the ways God continues to sustain and guide Asbury Seminary. After a recent winter storm required a brief campus closure, I want to thank our facilities team for their tireless work in preparing the campus to reopen safely.

I am pleased to share that Asbury’s SACSCOC accreditation has been renewed through 2035. This ten-year reaffirmation reflects years of faithful, collaborative effort, and I am deeply thankful for the leadership and diligence of those who guided this process.

Several strategic developments are also underway. The Career and Calling Center has joined the Beeson Center, strengthening our commitment to leadership formation and vocational discernment. In addition, the sale of the Florida campus has been completed, allowing us to address critical infrastructure needs and responsibly rebuild our capital reserves.

I am grateful for the generosity and prayers of our alumni and friends. We give thanks to God for this remarkable provision and guidance for the seminary.

While challenges remain, they are manageable—and the best news of all is that God is with us. I pray regularly for Asbury to flourish in faithfulness, and I am deeply grateful for the privilege of serving alongside such a dedicated, Spirit-filled community as we continue to fulfill our mission together.

Yours in Christ,
David F. Watson

Dr. Watson, I was among the graduates from 1975. Last year my wife and I had the privilege of attending our 50 year anniversary of our graduation. I must say that I was lost when I walked on the campus. So much has changed since I attended a ministerial conference back in the late eighties. I believe God will work through your leadership in the years to come. God bless you and you ministry.
