Gold is Not all That Glows: Meet Our 2018 Golden Graduates from Class of 1968!
We had an absolutely incredible time honoring, celebrating, and welcoming nineteen Golden graduates and sixteen spouses to Asbury’s campus for our Golden Graduate Celebration on May 18th and 19th! We really enjoyed getting to meet these amazing ministers and hear some of their life stories. This was a weekend to reunite with one another, remember the good memories of the past, and share in the rewards of 50 years of ministry since parting ways at graduation in 1968.
The Golden Graduates and their spouses were honored by meals with President Timothy C. and Mrs. Julie Tennent, Vice-President Mr. Jay Mansur, and Alumni Director Tammy Cessna. The graduates and spouses were given a tour of the growing Kentucky campus viewing the inside of the single dorms, family housing, and Community House. They also took a class photograph and worshiped alongside the current graduates and their families in Estes Chapel on Friday night.
The highlight of our celebration was when the Golden Graduates suited up in their golden robes and hats and processed into and out of Commencement with the graduating class of 2018. President Tennent recognized each of our Golden Graduates and their spouses by calling their names and asking them to stand. We were so glad to be able to honor and celebrate these incredible ministers of the gospel who have served the kingdom of God faithfully with their lives!
Hosting the Golden Graduates in Wilmore is a highlight for the Alumni Office and the entire Asbury community. We are truly blessed for these saints to come back “home” and share how God has been at work in the 50 years since they walked across the stage and first became alumni of Asbury Theological Seminary. Here are some individual pictures of all those who came for the event:
