OPPORTUNITIES IN THE GMC IN NORTH CAROLINA

As the GMC is “becoming” here in NC, there are numerous opportunities for potential pastoral appointments as we have (just in eastern NC) 200+ new Global Methodist Churches. In the process of Disaffiliation, a number of local churches, newly affiliated with the GMC, had/have pastors wishing to remain UM – therefore, there will be open pulpits in early June, 2023. I, myself am an ATS graduate, class of 1997, a former elder in the NC Conference of the UMC for 24 years, now beginning year 25 as a GMC elder. I am also a Presiding Elder, serving under the Raleigh Area lead Presiding Elder. This is “pioneer living” in these early days of the GMC in NC. IF you are willing to consider relocating to our state, there may be opportunities for men and women with calling, gifts and graces for ministry. Whether you are graduating ATS in a few weeks, or you are a fellow ATS alum, please let me know of your interest via email.

WORSHIP PASTOR AT LIFESONG UMC (ORLANDO, FL)

Part-time, 10 – 15 hours per week.

LifeSong UMC 2800 South Alafaya Trail Orlando, FL 32828

www.mylifesongchurch.com

“As worship leaders, we have the important and terrifying task of placing words of prayer on people’s lips. It happens every time we choose a song and write a prayer. We also have the holy task of being stewards of God’s Word. Our choices of Scripture and themes for worship represent a degree of control over people’s spiritual diets, over how they feed on the bread of life. For holy tasks such as these, the church needs more than craftspeople, coordinators, and performers, and none with the hubris to be spiritual engineers. The church needs pastoral people to plan and lead its worship.” – John Witvliet

Worship Leader Characteristics:

  • The person who fills this role needs to see worship leading as more a shepherding of God’s people into the truth of God’s Word. God’s story being our primary story/identity.
  • The person who fills this role needs to be Spirit-filled and Christ-centered. Willing to lead us in a weekly orientation inside the presence of God.
  • The person who fills this role needs to take the task of worship and missional engagement seriously. Encountering the living God needs to be more important than generating a momentary experience. Worship has to cause us to prayerfully impact the needs of the world around us.
  • A team-player. The person who fills this role needs to have the ability to work on a team and assist the church staff with ministries and events.
  • Visionary. The person who fills this role needs to be open to growth/expansion of our worship ministry needs and services. Flexibility and prayerfulness will be important.
  • Orthodox. The person who fills this role needs to be aligned with the truths of the Christian faith as reflected in the Old and New Testaments. The centrality of Jesus Christ, the Spirit-filled life, and a living relationship with the Heavenly Father are critical aspects of faith we are looking for. We are also Wesleyan and hold to holiness of heart and life.
